Electricity Bill Simulator

Calculate estimated daily, monthly, and yearly electricity costs based on an appliance's power consumption (W), usage hours, and custom unit price.

How to Use

  1. STEP 1
Enter the appliance's power consumption in Watts (e.g., Hairdryer 1200W).
  2. STEP 2
Enter the daily usage time in hours.
  3. STEP 3
Enter the unit price per kWh (freely adjustable).
  4. STEP 4
View the calculated daily, monthly, and yearly cost estimates.
  • Formula: Power(W) / 1000 × Hours × Unit Price = Cost.
  • Appliances with variable draw (ACs, refrigerators) may show higher estimates if calculated at peak wattage.
  • Starting fees, fuel adjustment costs, and renewable energy surcharges are not included.

Tips

1

Unplugging unused appliances or using power strips can reduce standby phantom loads.

2

You can perform a more accurate simulation by checking the 'Usage' on your electricity bill and calculating your actual unit price (including base fees, etc.).

3

Electricity prices in Japan also fluctuate by season. For example, winter heating with an AC typically consumes more power than summer cooling.

FAQ

  • Q1

    Q. How do I find my exact kWh price?

    A. Check your monthly utility bill statement or your provider's online portal.

  • Q2

    Q. What is the fuel adjustment cost?

    A. It's a charge reflecting the fluctuating prices of fuel (oil, LNG, coal) used for thermal power generation. The unit price changes every month.

  • Q3

    Q. What's the difference between W (Watt) and Wh (Watt-hour)?

    A. 'W' represents instantaneous power, while 'Wh' represents the total energy consumed over a period. Electricity bills are based on 'Wh'.

  • Q4

    Q. Why does air conditioner power consumption fluctuate?

    A. Air conditioners run at full power to reach the set temperature, then reduce power to maintain it. For more accurate calculations, refer to the average of the 'min-max' range or the 'annual energy consumption' in the manual.
